The Data Wall is a projection screen (transparent
scrim) behind the Reader
Recall/Arena Administration. During the
musical incisions, the Orchestra
of Excited Strings plays and are visible
behind the Data Wall.
On the screen are projected 12 windows, one window
representing each reading
table. When a reading block is activated,
the indicator box next to that window turns yellow; when
the block is inactive, it remains red. Upon being
activated, the Archive
File code and title is shown, as well as the
name and profession of the reader. When a reader begins
to speak at a particular table, the text which is being
read is scrolled word by word in real time in the
respective window on the data wall. (The scribes
in the Arena listen to the readers on headphones,
transcribing the spoken word into a computer network)
